Nancy's Pages

You can sew these either by hand, using very small backstitches, if you don't own a
sewing machine, or sew them using a sewing machine. First figure out how big you
want your completed pillow to be, and the width of the banding of fashion fabric you
want for the front of the pillow. Cut a square the size of the desired finished pillow
plus 1/2 inch from both the fashion fabric and from a piece of muslin. Cur 4 strips
from the fashion fabric twice the width of the desired banding plus 1/2 inch, and the
length of the pillow plus 1/2 inch. Fold in half lengthwise and press with the wrong
sides to the inside. Lay the muslins square on a table and the square of fashion fabric
right side up on top of that. Place 1 folded rectangle on opposite sides of the square
with the fold facing the center of the square, and then lay the remaining rectangles on
the other 2 opposite sides in the same manner. Pin all in place, and stitch using a 1/4
inch seam, leaving a 1 inch hole for stuffing the pillow. Lightly stuff and stitch opening
closed. Turn rectangular flaps to the right side.
Insert your needlework in the front of the pillow, and either sew in place, or attach
using buttons sewn in each corner. Enjoy!

Stitch N Tuck Pillows

Stitch N Tuck pillows make wonderful gifts
and displays in baskets. They can be modified
many ways, such as using quilt batting instead of
a pillow and making quilt blocks! Or you can
string the pillows together to make a banner. We
hope you find these instructions useful.
